Part 1: Using "As" and "While"

Remember: As and While are usually followed by the Past Continuous (the long action).

Part 2: Interrupted Actions (When)

Use Past Simple for the short action that interrupts or happens in the middle of a longer action.

Part 3: Questions & Negatives

Ask about specific times (Continuous) or completed events (Simple). Pay attention to "What were you doing?".

Part 4: Storytelling & Background

Use Continuous for setting the scene (description) and Simple for the main events of the story.
