DIALOGUE - IN THE CLASSROOM
Teacher Sarah: Good morning children! Today, we're going to learn how to use the class materials to do an individual project at home. Are you ready?
Students: Yes, Mrs. Sarah!
Teacher Sarah: Great! So, we're going to start with the pencils. You will need a pencil to write down your ideas and to draw your project.
Student 1: What kind of pencil should we use, Mrs. Sarah?
Teacher Sarah: You can use any type of pencil you like, but I recommend using a 2B pencil. It's perfect for writing and drawing.
Student 2: And what about the eraser, Mrs. Sarah?
Teacher Sarah: Yes, you will also need an eraser. You can use it to correct mistakes.
Student 3: Can we use a rubber?
Teacher Sarah: Of course, a rubber is also known as an eraser.
Teacher Sarah: Next, we're going to talk about the ruler. A ruler is a measuring tool that will help you to draw straight lines.
Student 4: And what about the set square, Mrs. Sarah?
Teacher Sarah: The set square is used to draw angles and to make sure your lines are perpendicular.
Teacher Sarah: We also have the compass. A compass will help you to draw circles and to make sure they are perfect.
Student 5: And what about the colouring pencils, Mrs. Sarah?
Teacher Sarah: The colouring pencils are perfect for adding colour to your drawings and to make them look more interesting.
Teacher Sarah: Finally, we have the felt-tip pens or markers. They are perfect for writing and for creating bold lines.
Student 6: And what about the glue, Mrs. Sarah?
Teacher Sarah: You can use glue to stick pieces of paper or cardboard together to create your project.
Teacher Sarah: I hope this helps you to understand how to use the class materials for your individual project. Now, I want you all to get started and to show me what you can do!
Read the following text and answer the questions bellow:
John was a high school student. He was very excited about starting his first day of school. He woke up early, brushed his teeth and put on his school uniform. On the way to school, he wondered what the day would be like.
When he got to school, he went straight to the classroom and sat at his desk. The instructor walked in and introduced himself. He said, "Good morning everyone, my name is Mr. Smith and I will be your English teacher this year."
John was happy to hear that. He always loved learning English. The instructor explained the curriculum for the year and handed out the syllabus. He asked, "Does everyone understand what we will be learning this year?" John raised his hand and said, "Yes, I understand, we will be learning grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension."
After the lecture, the students were assigned their first homework, which was to read a chapter from the textbook and answer questions on a worksheet. The deadline for the homework was the next day. John was a little nervous, but he was determined to do well.
The rest of the day went by quickly and John went home feeling happy and tired. He sat down at the table, opened his notebook and started working on his homework. He was grateful for what he had learned and was looking forward to the next day of school.
