Complete the following sentences using past perfect continuous:

 

 

1. How long  (work) in Madrid before you found your new job?

 

2. She  (not learn) English for a long time, when she decided to learn another language.

 

3. I  (run) for a long time, when I had to stop because I felt really tired.

 

4. She  (smoke) for three years. However, she didn't realise how dangerous it was until she got ill. 

 

5. She couldn't hand our project on time, although she  (work) on it for several weeks. 

 

6. My sister and her boyfriend  (argue) for two hours until they finally got relaxed and talked about it calmly.

 

7. Spain  (hope) to win the Soccer World Cup. They finally got it in 2010.

 

8. I  (wait) two years until I had money to buy a new car. 

 

9. The baby (eat) chocolate. For that reason, his face was so dirty.

 

10. She  (play) the piano for two hours when the neighbours finally knocked her door to ask her to stop. It was very late and they wanted to sleep.
